Devices and Mac OS X version
QuickTime is the default DVD Playing software for MacBook Pro, which you can play. VLC Media Player has to be one of the most popular third-party media players available for Mac (as well as PC, Android, iOS and so on) due to its compatibility with a breathtaking number of audio. VLC Media Player, an uncluttered, open-source and cross-platform program, supports DivX and MPEG streaming. It can play DVDs, CDs, VCDs, network streaming protocols, and various types of video files. The best video player Mac offers playlist for viewing multiple videos one after the other.
- VLC Streamer will not play DRM protected videos. Videos from the iTunes store do include DRM. VLC Streamer is designed to work on your local network, and the free helper app has to run on your Mac or PC. Supports Windows, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10. Supports Mac OS 10.7 Intel and above. Response to feedback.
- While predominantly a video player, VLC also offers a solid audio solution for music lovers. You get the same incredible support for multiple audio file formats as you get with video, seamless streaming capabilities from local files or online, and an easy to use playlist and music manager to help keep your music library organized and easily.
VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.
If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple.
